Viejo Vallarta and Playa de los Muertos

Yesterday we needed a day just for ourselves. (Family is great but sometimes you need a break when they are in close proximity for a long time) So we went to Veijo Vallarta(old town Vallarta) and enjoyed a nice seafood lunch. The seafood here is the best I´ve ever had I have to say. (and the cheapest!) Then after that we went to Playa de Los Muertos(Beach of the dead-you can Google the story about how it got it´s name) It was gorgeous!! Oscar flew his kite on the beach and Leti and I ran through the surf. We stayed there about 2 or 3 hours just relaxing and enjoying each other. I guess I will have to start working sometime but what is the rush. LOL!!! I am working on my Spanish and getting a nice lesson in culture here. Who could ask for anything more, 80 degree days, sun, bikinis, boats, Coronas, tequila and lots of Ice cream!!! Talk to you soon everyone.

True Mexicans do not have low riders. . LOL!!!

One thing I think is funny when an American thinks about Mexicans they naturally think of low riders. Well, a true Mexican from Mexico does not have low riders. The streets here would tear them to shreds. There are pot holes and topes(kind of like a speed bump) everywhere. Even in my truck I bottom out occasionally. The streets here are definetly a LOT worse than in most of the U.S. but that is OK when you have a 4 wheel drive from Colorado. A Mexican said to me jokingly, ¨This must be a lot like Colorado 4 wheeling. ¨ I laughed and agreed.
Sorry no pictures yet. We have to wait until we get the computer set up and it is still packed in a box. Talk to you all soon. I´m off to eat crab legs by the sea!!!

Very cool day!!!

Two very cool things happened today. First off while showering I noticed a baby Gecko on the wall. Very tiny, about the size of one of the joints on my index finger. Needless to say I caught him and played with him a while and then set him free in our bedroom(Not to Leti´s delight. LOL) to eat bugs.
Next we went to Nuevo Vallarta and went to the COOLEST mall. It is literally 5 minutes from our house. They had an Italian restaurant(Angelo´s) and Domino´s, Subway, McDonalds, and a grocery store with a LOT of American items: I bought a jar of marichino(SP?) cherries to make cherry coke´s with.(Which by the way you can NOT find here at all- even in Sam´s or WalMart) It also had a big air filled equipment play ground for the kids.
OK more adventures to come. I think soon we will be starting to clean the house out to actually live there and maybe start on the business construction. Talk to you soon!!!

Did we actually leave America??

Today we celebrated Leti´s birthday with a trip to the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta for a nice lunch. We ate overlooking the sea with the sea horse(famous-see Malecon Puerta Vallarta) statue. We had shrimp and other fish and beer of course!! Leti was amazed at some of the stores we saw; KFC, Subway, McDonalds, WalMart, Sam´s, Tony Rama´s, Dominos, Pizza Hut, and too many more to name. Glad to see corporate America is doing so well!! LOL!! (It does make the transition a LOT easier though) OK more to come.

Zacatecas, Mexico.

We arrived in Zacatecas Mexico today-after 3 days of driving. It is absolutely gorgeous! We went downtown and wondered the streets for a while. They have a LOT of stores and touristy type shops. They sell many things made by Indians here-very beautiful artwork! Our hotel is gorgeous and is-by American standards- a 5 star hotel. Very pricey-a Mexican singer is staying here too and I have seen many federal police guarding the entrance. They will not tell us who it is though. Yesterday we were in Jiminez. Not quite as beautiful but pretty. Our hotels have been great. Very safe and clean. So far so good on the food and drinks for all of us too. I almost lost control of the trailer once-in the U.S., other than that though it has been a fun and very long trip. I am ready for a few cerveza's and resting my feet in the ocean tomorrow in Vallarta!!! OK time to go to sleep. Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Tribute to co-workers

This is a tribute to all of my former co-workers. Thank you for all your years of help and friendship. You have been there for me over many trials and hardships. I appologize for my moments of stupidity and carelessness. It has truly been a pleasure for me working with you and being your friend. I wish you all the success in the world and hope we will meet again someday in happier circumstances. Go out and take life by the horns and TAKE all this life has to offer you!

Worldly possessions

Yesterday I sold my bed and couches to my best friend Ryan.(Thanks Ry) Now the house is empty and we are sleeping on the floor on a padded sheet. There is something kind of freeing about giving away/selling your worldly possessions. It's like a weight is almost lifted off of you. I know we will be setting up again and buying all new stuff once we reach Mexico and Leti has quite a bit of furniture down there but it is weird actually NOT accumulating things but selling them off. It is a freeing experience though.

Golden decline of TV

For those of you who remember how TV used to be, you will appreciate this. You've seen TV go from quality entertainment and news programs like Howdy Doody and the Ed Sullivan show to the Honeymooners, The Twilight Zone and Rawhide. Eventually shows like Get Smart, The Avengers, The Benny Hill show, The Dick Van Dyke show, Carrol Burnett show, Love American Style and Hawaii Five-O. Then came Alice, Fantasy Island, Charlie's Angels, MASH, The Muppet Show and Taxi. The 80's brought The A-Team, Charles in Charge, Cheers, Doogie Howser, Married with Children, Magnum P.I. and The Simpsons. The 90's showed Beverly Hills 90210, King of the Hill, Futurama, That 70's show and Jerry Springer. Now we have Divorce Court, Cheaters, TONS of reality shows, Kids cartoons with characters that burp and fart and do everything but actually swear. We have commercials that do have swearing bleeped out for shock value.
I work(soon to be past tense -thank God) for a company (FOX) that owns the largest Christian book publishing company(Zondervan) while at the same time showing 6 channels of 24/7 pornography on Directv. Conflict of interests maybe? Or does the almighty quest for the dollar take importance over everything? I am not at all sad to be leaving an industry like this. It has the potential to do so much good but look what it primarily caters to and shows. To quote a great singer Chris Rhea

"I come home from work
I see my little girl, Shes crying on the floor
Shes been watching that tv.
This aint late no, this aint even dinner time. To show them things on that screen
Whats wrong with you?You must be evil
Oh I know why you do it, Youre just looking for sensation
You got a hold of something You tell us that its news
You dont have to show that stuff. Cant you show us some respect
You can tell us we dont need to see it.We dont need those cheap effects
You must be evil
Sometimes you even slow it down.Youre giving out some bad ideas hereI cant believe that you dont realize.
You must be evil

I want my contribution to the workforce to be for the betterment of the world, not the corrupting of it. OK that is my soapbox for today. Sorry but I had to vent this. Happier posts to come. . .
